When serving with the Building Maintenance team, you can expect to participate in hands-on help, minor repairs, and the joy of keeping the church looking its best.
Projects are ongoing and scheduled as needed.
This work keeps our space safe, beautiful, and welcoming. Email Bob Clapp at bobclapp1@gmail.com to get on the project list and be notified of upcoming work days or service needs.
Do I need professional experience? Not at all. We love to teach and work together.
Can children and teens help? Yes, with appropriate tasks and adult supervision.
After completing the Care Ministry training, each participant fills out a short survey to reflect on how they feel uniquely called to serve. Some feel drawn to send cards or make phone calls. Others offer hospital visits, grief support, meal delivery, or simply a ministry of presence. You’ll be guided into the kind of care that fits your calling.
We offer a 6-week Care Ministry training course twice a year. Once trained, Care Ministers receive a weekly email with current care needs in their area of calling that they may choose to respond to. Throughout the year, we also hold follow-up trainings, check-ins, and gatherings to support and equip our Care Ministers as they serve.
You don’t need special skills to care—just a willing heart. A listening ear and a caring presence can change a life. Email Pastor Amy Linnemann at pastoramy@sandyhook.org to learn about upcoming trainings and care opportunities.
Do I need to have professional or personal experience in counseling? No, you just need to be someone who wants to offer Christ-like care! Our training course will equip you with any practical skills you might need.

Join us to brainstorm and plan community gatherings that foster friendship and belonging. Whether you love hosting, decorating, or just bringing people together, there’s a place for you here.
This group meets on the third Tuesday of each month at 6 p.m., though not every month. Meeting frequency increases before holidays and decreases during the summer. Meeting dates are determined by the current workload.
If you’d like to serve with the Celebration Team, please contact Cindy Hotz at cjhotz@comcast.net to learn more and get involved.
How often does this team meet? As needed, averaging 7-8 times per year.

As a part of the choir, you can expect weekly rehearsals and Sunday morning singing, but more importantly, a joyful, dedicated group that loves music and one another.

Come add your voice—all ages are welcome! If you’re interested in joining the choir, email Michelle Farnsworth at mtigger@ameritech.net to visit a choir rehearsal and try it out.
Do I need to be able to read music? The ability to read music is helpful, but not required.
Do I need to audition? No audition is needed—just come and sing with us!
What kind of music do you sing? We mostly sing hymns and sacred choral music.

Our team creates slides, writes announcements, develops the church newsletter, schedules social media posts, and more. If you have a particular area that you would like to get involved with, please let David Walby know.
There is no schedule attached to this ministry aside from the fact that we put out the newsletter on Wednesdays.
Contact David Walby at david@sandyhook.org to learn more and get involved.

Meetings where we talk about the church budget, giving reports, and ways to support the church’s mission through faithful money management. We also review financial statements and help make financial decisions.
The Finance Team meets every other month to review financial updates and plan for the future. Extra meetings may happen during budget season or when special financial needs arise.
The Finance Team helps make sure every gift given to the church is used in ways that support our mission to love everyone always. If you want to be part of that impact behind the scenes, we’d love to talk with you. Contact Rick Trevey at rtrevey@comcast.net or 812-350-6520 to get involved.
Do I need to be an accountant or finance expert to help? Not at all. While some people on the team have financial experience, we welcome anyone who cares about helping the church use money wisely.
Is the church’s financial info shared with the congregation? Yes. We value transparency and provide regular financial updates to keep everyone informed.

We have 1-2 social gatherings each year. Several of our members live alone and can’t attend church regularly, so this is a time for them to see friends. We also send cards on special occasions.
We meet every other month at the church on Wednesdays at noon.
We always welcome more people who are interested in spending time serving this age group! Email Rosie Critzer at rcritzer1@gmail.com to get involved.
